Who Is A Candidate For A Breast Augmentation?

Patients who identify with the following may be a good candidate for a breast augmentation. However, the only way to determine your candidacy for breast augmentation surgery is to meet with a plastic surgeon during a consultation:

  • Desire to increase the size of your breasts
  • Desire to correct asymmetry of your breasts
  • Not currently breastfeeding
  • No medical conditions that will impair healing
  • Non-smoker or willing to quit smoking 6 weeks before and after surgery

How Long Is Breast Augmentation Recovery?

Usually patients are able to return to work one week after surgery. However, patients must avoid cardiovascular activity and cannot lift anything above 5 lbs for about 4 - 6 weeks after surgery or until they've been cleared by their plastic surgeon.

It is important to understand that each patient is unique and your recovery time can depend on a variety of factors.

  • Enhancement: Immediate
  • 70% Swelling reduction: 4 - 6 weeks
  • Full settling and recovery: 3 - 6 months
