What Is A Rhinoplasty?

A rhinoplasty, otherwise known as a "nose job", is a procedure that adjusts the size, shape, and/or proportions of the nose to improve facial harmony. A rhinoplasty may be performed not only to change the appearance of the nose but also to improve the patient's breathing. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose, we recommend booking a consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons to perform an in-depth evaluation, discuss your goals, and create a tailored surgical plan for you.

Ideal Candidates

Who Is A Good Rhinoplasty Candidate?

Plastic surgery should always be a personal decision that is not influenced by the opinions of others. As with any plastic surgery, patients must always be in good health and have realistic goals to be considered for this procedure. If you identify with any of the following, you may be an ideal candidate for our Orlando rhinoplasty surgery:

  • You feel your nose is either too big and/or wide
  • You have a bump on the bridge of the nose
  • You have a drooping, upturned, or bulbous nasal tip
  • You have large or upturned nostrils
  • You have a deviated septum causing asymmetry or difficulty breathing

How Long Is Rhinoplasty Recovery?

Following surgery, your nose will be placed in an external and/or internal splint and bandaged which will typically be removed within 7-14 days post-op. While you may feel comfortable enough to move around within 24 hours, patients typically require at least 1-2 week off from work or school as they heal. Patients should avoid any cardiovascular activity or heavy lifting (anything above 5lbs) for 4-6 weeks. It is important to understand that each patient is unique and your recovery time can depend on a variety of factors. Our team will be here to guide you with post-op instructions in order to ensure a healthy and safe recovery.

Are There Adjunct Procedures That May Be Performed With A Rhinoplasty?

Yes, there are a variety of procedures that may be needed with a rhinoplasty depending on your goals. We recommend booking a consultation with one of our plastic surgeons to determine a surgical plan:

  • Septoplasty: Typically used to correct a deviated septum by straightening and/or removing the septal cartilage and/or bone dividing the space between your nostrils.
  • Alar Base Resection: Typically used to address oversized nostrils by creating an incision along the area where the rounded part of the nostrils meet the face.
  • Inferior Turbinectomy: Typically used to reduce the size of enlarged turbinates in order to improve airflow.

Open Rhinoplasty Approach

WHAT RHINOPLASTY TECHNIQUE IS USED AT VADO PLASTIC SURGERY?

At Vado Plastic Surgery, rhinoplasty is performed using the open approach, which allows for enhanced visibility and precision during surgery. Open rhinoplasty involves a small incision placed underneath the nose, between the nostrils, that is typically only visible when tilting the head back.

During your rhinoplasty consultation, your plastic surgeon will evaluate your anatomy, concerns, and aesthetic goals to create a personalized surgical plan tailored to you.
