Increase Fullness

What is a Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation enhances the size, shape, and fullness of a patient's breast by either inserting a breast implant above or below the muscle or utilizing fat transfer. This procedure may increase fullness, improve overall balance, and enhance the aesthetic appeal of a patient's breast. There are various ways to insert the implants: periareolar incision and inframammary incision. You and your plastic surgeon will discuss which of these incisions is right for you and your desired outcome. Choose a Breast Augmentation in Orlando, FL, with our team of board-certified plastic surgeons.

Ideal Candidates

Who is a good breast augmentation candidate?

Choosing plastic surgery should always be a personal, well-thought-out decision that is not sprung on by the opinions of others. If you are choosing plastic surgery for your own reasons, you're in good health, have realistic expectations, and your breasts are fully developed, then you are on your way to being a good candidate for breast augmentation. If you'd like to determine if you'd be a good candidate for breast augmentation, Orlando breast surgeons at Vado Plastic Surgery can address that and answer any questions you may have during your initial consultation. Patients decide to undergo plastic surgery for a variety of reasons. If you identify with any of the following, then you might be a good candidate for an augmentation mammoplasty:

  • Cannot be breastfeeding or have any medical conditions that can impair healing
  • Small breasts
  • Asymmetrical breasts
  • Deflated breasts
  • Breast changes after weight loss, pregnancy, or aging
  • Feelings of unhappiness about your breasts' appearance

Your Implant Options

At Vado Plastic Surgery, we proudly offer Allergan Natrelle® and Motiva® implants, including both saline and silicone options, to provide a wide range of sizes, shapes, and materials. This gives your plastic surgeon the ability to tailor your augmentation to your unique anatomy and aesthetic goals.

Allergan Natrelle® Implants (Silicone And Saline)

Natrelle® silicone implants have a smooth shell and are available in round or anatomical shapes to suit your desired aesthetic. Sizes range from 110cc to 800cc, allowing for a highly personalized fit based on your body and goals. To further tailor your results, Natrelle® offers five projection profiles: Low, Low Plus, Moderate, Full, and Extra Full. These options help define how much the implant projects outward from the chest wall - ranging from a wide, subtle look to a narrow base with high projection for a more dramatic silhouette.

Natrelle® silicone implants come in three gel types — Responsive, SoftTouch, and Cohesive — each offering a unique balance of softness, shape retention, and feel. These vary in cohesivity — or "gumminess" — which refers to how firmly the silicone molecules bind together. As cohesivity increases (or the gel becomes more "gummy"), the implant maintains its shape better and appears more rounded.

  • Responsive: The softest and most fluid gel. Because the silicone is less tightly bound, the gel gradually settles toward the bottom when the implant is in an upright position, creating a natural teardrop effect. Ideal for a soft, sloped look with less upper-pole fullness.
  • SoftTouch: A balanced option that feels soft but maintains its shape better than Responsive. It still allows some settling toward the bottom of the implant to achieve a teardrop effect, while retaining form in the upper pole for added fullness at the top.
  • Cohesive: The most form-stable of the three. It retains its shape well and offers more upper-pole fullness for a rounder, perkier look. Firmer than the others but still soft to the touch, it's great for patients who want defined cleavage and a more voluminous look.

Natrelle® also offers a line of saline implants, which are filled with sterile saline solution during surgery. These come with a smooth shell surface and are available in three projection options: Low Profile, Moderate Profile, and High Profile. Saline implant sizes range from 120cc to 850cc.

Motiva® Implants (Silicone)

Motiva® breast implants provide a wide range of options for feel, shape, and customization. All Motiva implants are filled with a responsive silicone gel and made with a smooth shell designed to feel soft and minimize friction with surrounding tissue.

One of the available styles, Ergonomix®, is designed to adapt to your body's position — appearing rounder when lying down and more sloped when standing. Select models also include Qid®, a small, scan-accessible chip embedded in the implant that allows your provider to retrieve implant information without surgery. Sizes range from 150cc to 625cc, offering flexibility for modest to dramatic results.

Motiva's three profile options - Mini, Demi, and Full - each combine a specific base width and level of projection. Mini offers the widest base with the least projection, while Full has the narrowest base with the highest projection. These options allow you and your surgeon to choose a shape that complements your body and matches your desired look.

The Internal Bra

Reinforce and Support Your Implants

In some cases, your plastic surgeon may recommend the internal bra technique to provide additional support for your implants during a breast augmentation, lift, or revision surgery. This approach involves placing a soft, absorbable mesh - GalaFLEX® - inside the breast pocket to reinforce the tissue and help secure the implant in an ideal position. The mesh acts like an internal scaffold, giving your body time to develop stronger, more supportive tissue in its place. Over time, the mesh naturally dissolves, leaving behind a more stable foundation that helps maintain shape, projection, and cleavage for longer-lasting results.

The internal bra may be recommended for patients who:

  • Have thin, weak, or stretched breast tissue
  • Are experiencing implant malposition (such as bottoming out or lateral shifting)
  • Are receiving larger or heavier implants
  • Want more defined cleavage or longer-lasting lift results

Your surgeon will determine if this technique is appropriate for your goals during your consultation.

Silicone or Saline Implants?

When considering a breast augmentation, you will be faced with the silicone vs saline challenge. Saline implants use sterile saline solution, which is basically salt water, to inflate a silicone-based outer shell. Silicone implants, on the other hand, are entirely made of silicone gel. Saline implants are usually said to have a similar feel to a water balloon, whereas silicone implants are said to have the feel of a gummy bear to mimic the feel of natural breasts.

While there is no clear-cut answer, there are certainly pros and cons to each. Saline implants may leave a slightly smaller scar because they are filled after they are inserted, so the incision doesn't have to be as large as it would be for silicone implants. However, silicone implants are much lighter than saline implants, which means a lot less pulling and rippling.

Keep in mind: When it comes to ruptures, saline implants deflate while the body absorbs the sterile saline solution. Contrarily, when silicone implants rupture, it typically occurs in an undetectable manner. Because of this, individuals with silicone implants will have to undergo periodic MRIs in order to make sure the implants haven't ruptured.

Do you offer fat transfer to the breasts?

Yes, we do! Fat transfer to the breast is a great option for patients who want a moderate increase in their breast size and do not wish to have implants. This option essentially uses liposuction to take fat from other areas of your body (stomach, love handles, thighs, etc) and inject it into the breasts - no implants involved! Many patients love this idea because you're not only increasing your breast size and fullness but also targeting stubborn fat and contouring your figure at the same time.

However, it's important to note that fat transfer to the breast will typically only increase your breast size by about 150CC or one cup size. If you wish to achieve a larger increase in cup size, you may consider multiple rounds of fat transfer or breast implants. For patients who identify with the following, you may be a good candidate for this procedure:

  • You do not wish to have implants
  • You want a moderate increase in your breast size
  • You have areas on your body that you would like to target with liposuction
  • You want a more natural option to increase breast size

Breast AugmentationFrequently Asked Questions

Breast augmentation typically shouldn't interfere with breastfeeding. However, it's essential to discuss your plans with our experienced team during the consultation to ensure your procedure is tailored to your specific needs.

We provide a range of FDA-approved implant options, including saline and silicone implants, each with its own advantages. Our team will guide you in selecting the most suitable choice for your desired outcome.

Incisions are strategically placed to minimize visibility, and our skilled surgical techniques aim to achieve natural-looking results. Scars tend to fade over time, becoming less noticeable as you heal.

While breast implants are long-lasting, they are not life-long devices. Modern implants are designed for durability, but factors like age, lifestyle, and changes in your body may influence their lifespan. Regular follow-up appointments can help monitor their condition over the years.
