Labiaplasty Recovery Timeline: What To Expect Week By Week

Labiaplasty surgery is a procedure that can change the shape and/or size of the inner or outer lips of the vagina. Labiaplasty typically requires patients to miss roughly 3-4 days of work (depending on their line of work). Labiaplasty Recovery Week By Week

Day 1:

• Light meal prior to taking pain medications; ie. Soup, crackers, toast. Maintain a balanced diet with plenty of healthy protein for healing.
• Pain medications, as directed. No driving while taking pain medications. May take Colace, a stool softener, to decrease risk of constipation, caused by pain medications.
• HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! Alternate between water and Gatorade/Powerade, etc.
• May ice area to reduce swelling and discomfort for first 2-3 days after labiaplasty surgery. 20 minutes every 2-4 hours while awake. Protect skin with protective barrier between skin and ice (wash cloth).
• Keep incisions clean and dry. Do not rub incision or other treated areas.
• May use pantyliners for occasional spotting; normal.
• No strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks, including cardiovascular activity or lifting greater than 5 lbs.
• May sleep in any position, as tolerated.

Week 1:

• Postoperative appointment! Incision check.

Week 6:

• You may resume regular exercise, once cleared at follow up by your surgical team.
• Begin scar care (if cleared by surgeon): Silagen is recommended and available at Vado Plastic Surgery.
• May resume tub bathing and swimming, once cleared at follow up.

Week 12:

• Recovery Milestone… Should be at full activity levels! 😊
